I’m not talking of reinstating him. I’m only providing you with a source to know the facts about what happened. Doing your research doesn’t mean reading what you want to read. Did you read the article Zach linked? Of course not; 99% don’t have a subscription to Bloomberg. Please search for the article online, read it, read the investigation I posted earlier of the Ontario Securities Commission. At least know why we kicked him out. And rule number 1: don’t believe me: read the actual sources, not some random jpeg on Twitter. Make an informed decision.
I voted to keep him in the first instance, I’d vote to bring him back
Keep Sifu as one of the treasury managers.
Let’s be honest here.
As soon as everyone starts making money again, no one is going to care if Sifu is still helping with the treasury.
It’s all about the Money and how Green your bags are getting.
Madoff understood greed and human psychology better than he understood finance.
I still don’t see what Sifu is supposed to have done wrong tbh, with regards to wonderland I mean.
man, sifu gate make a lot of image damage…DYOR or not this is the situation…i repeat, i have nothing aganist sifu, he do a really great job like a treasury manager, but for crypto world will remain associate with quadriga
I agree. Now that the markets have calmed, we should consider bringing back sifu
I personally think that if he wants to come back in some capacity, and the team wants him back, he should be allowed to come back.
In my eyes, many people are way too influenced by Quadriga conspiracy theories. The fact of the matter is, Quadriga was doing well, had anti-money laundering practices in place, had frequent audits, and Sifu was leading the push to make it public… but he was fired/left with most of the staff and it went to shit, ending 3 years later. (I can find references for any of this if needed)
Before that, when he was younger he involved in many early digital currency things, and he was given 1.5 years in jail with a charge of money laundering. Personally, I spent my late teens/early 20s participating in anime translation groups as a hobby. While it’s not on the same level, it was also illegal our communities overlapped with various other, more shady communities. People in the community were often fined (and maybe a few jailed) for things like “copyright infringement” and “bootlegging.”
I see no “proven history of ripping people off” in his background, while there is a chance it may be possible. Without proof, we’re just making accusations and taking actions based off fear and paranoia.
I laugh at people yelling to hire “The Professor,” as they are yet another person with an unknown background. I really wouldn’t be surprised if he is Sifu, as it’s yet another “authoritative” nickname (Sifu = Teacher = Professor?). This says nothing about Sifu or “The Professor” though, both of them seem to know their shit and have good ideas, to me. Rather, this says something about a lot of Wonderland’s users.
If Wonderland continues, here are some points I want to see implemented. It should help dispel current FUD, and make it less susceptible in the future:
-
I would like to see an analysis/documentation/reports on Sifu’s actions so far. Has he been doing a good job? Has the treasury been growing due to investments? I personally have no reason to doubt this, but this information should help persuade anyone that’s skeptical.
-
No commingling of DAO funds in personal wallets. This definitely isn’t a good look and confuses things. I’m glad the OP brought it up.
-
More transparency on team fund allocation. 5% of what? when? How often? I think the random transfer of these team funds is another thing that looks really suspicious.
-
Community Education and better communication: I mentioned how wanting to hire the professor says something about Wonderland’s users. I think a lot of users are confused and susceptible to FUD as they were just attracted to the high APY and may not understand a lot of price action. It might be a good idea to… I don’t know, start a blog about general economics and price action in crypto, or the overall economy.
This is one thing I think the JADE DAO team did awesomely. I know Wonderland had a post attempting to explain the benefits of wrapped memo (and making a cookie crumb analogy), but it didn’t really get into cookie crumbs being inflation/dilution and why they can be deceptive and a bad metric. -
Optional: Salary caps and transparent salaries. Related to #3 above, I don’t think it’s fair that team members can potentially make bank based purely off how much people are investing, while investors are losing money. I guess this can give the impression that project devs don’t have to make a project that’s profitable to investors in order to make money themselves. Salaries should be some base amount + a share of 5% percent of profits or something.
Good God indeed ! have you read all of his past ? yes he had done some stupid things when he was young , who has not ! he was investigated by the FBI and was found had nothing to do with QuadrigaCX, he had left 3 yrs before i believe.
Nobody should be trying to convince anybody in this case. All of us have our principles on not judging others by emotions and all of us have our “goody-two-shoes”-ness. Just put up the vote and see who wins. I’ve read too much of people trying to push their so-called morals and values, without even considering others. Just stop with the bickering already and just put up the votes and move on.
Of course I would vote yes.
This. After the audit, assuming there was no wrong doing, a lot more of us, including me would be open to have him involved in Treasury management. No one else has the experience and he and Dani did a great job building the treasury. The rebase model did prove unsustainable. Time started tanking before the market in general did and the outing of Sifu just kicked us while we were down.
